Woman charged with ramming squad cars, hurting 3 officers

CHICAGO (AP) - Aggravated assault, aggravated battery and criminal damage to property charges were filed Thursday against a Chicago woman who allegedly injured three officers when she rammed several police vehicles.

Dawn Moore was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bond for the alleged attack that occurred Wednesday. Authorities say the incident began when the 30-year-old Moore demanded police release a man they pulled over for a traffic violation, saying he was someone she knew.

Prosecutors told Cook County Circuit Judge Arthur Wesley Willis that after Moore was told to move on, she sideswiped a police vehicle, tried to run over an officer and rammed two other vehicles. The extent of the officers' injuries weren't revealed, however a police spokesman said they were treated at area hospitals for injuries not considered life-threatening.

The woman drove away from the scene, but was arrested later.

Prosecutors alleged Moore intentionally tried to hurt the officers. Moore's court-appointed attorney said she had 'œsignificant mental health diagnoses.'ť

In refusing to release Moore with electronic monitoring, Willis said he was concerned she would be a danger to the public until receiving treatment
