Accomplished flutist to perform Feb. 26 at St. Charles library

The St. Charles Public Library's Sunday Concert Series continues at 2 p.m. Feb. 26, with flutist Scott Metlicka, accompanied by pianist Constance Hughes.

The duo will perform an array of flute music from composers including Bach, Bizet, Godard and Chicago composer John LaMontaine.

Metlicka is a member of the Elgin, Rockford and South Bend symphony orchestras. He is also the principal flutist for the Wisconsin Philharmonic and Milwaukee's Skylight Theater. Additional freelance work includes Chicago's Grant Park Symphony, Chicago Opera Theater, Madison Symphony and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. He teaches flute at Elgin Community College and previously taught flute methods classes at DePaul University to music education majors. He has a bachelor's degree in flute performance from the Northern Illinois University and a master's degree from Northwestern University.

Hughes is a chamber musician who has performed at Ravinia, the Kansas City Philharmonic and Independent Symphony Orchestra. She holds a master's degree in piano performance from Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University. Hughes is a member of the Elgin Community College music faculty and maintains a private studio in Elgin.

This event is part of the library's Sunday Concert Series, featuring a wide variety of live musical performances. This performance is funded through donations to the St. Charles Public Library Foundation. The public is welcome and the concert is free to attend.
