Hoffman Estates investigating cause of house fire

Hoffman Estates firefighters are continuing to investigate the cause of a fire that caused an estimated $100,000 of damage to a home on the 700 block of Orange Lane Saturday, Aug. 5.

Firefighters responded to a call at 4:13 p.m. and arrived to find all the occupants of the one-story, single-family home already evacuated.

The fire was concentrated in the attached garage of the home but had extended into the attic space and an interior utility room. Firefighters quickly extinguished it.

The home was found to have no working smoke detectors and was not equipped with a sprinkler system.
