Mini Comic Con at Vernon Area Public Library
Real-life superheroes and a superhero training academy were part of the fun at Vernon Area Public Library's daylong Mini Comic Con 2016 on Saturday.
The third annual event at the Lincolnshire library had plenty to offer, including a costume contest with prizes, a craft area, photo booth, STEM petting zoo and a gaming lounge.
There were age-appropriate activities, including a drawing workshop for kids, Japanese anime, manga drawing and monster makeup workshops for teens and a "Star Trek"-themed presentation for adults.
Artists scheduled to appear were Addie Afable, Tom Bacon, Justin Castaneda, Donovan Scherer, Steph Stanga and Wesley Sun.
Jean Zhang and her daughter Christy Yao, 8 months, greet a Storm Trooper scout called TB33050 of the Midwest Garrison of the 501st Legion as the Vernon Area Public Library in Lincolnshire hosted a Mini Comic Con in which kids participated in writing workshops, a costume contest and comic book drawing.
