New principal, Title I and III coordinator in District 21

Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 has hired a new preschool principal and a coordinator to oversee programs receiving federal funds.

Holly Harper-Kelly, the new principal of Hawthorne Early Childhood Center, started Friday at a prorated salary of $107,466 after her hiring was approved by the school board Thursday night. She was director of bilingual and EL services and Title I coordinator since 2013 at West Northfield School District 31.

The board also approved the hiring of Brigid Ohlwein as District 21's coordinator for Title I/Title III programs at a prorated salary of $93,169. She was EL coordinator/teacher in Avoca School District 37 in Wilmette since 2012. Her first day is Aug. 17.
