Huff, Edwards help Utah women defeat Washington St 72-68

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Megan Huff scored 21 points, Dre'Una Edwards added 20 and Utah pulled out a 72-68 win at Washington State on Friday night after letting a 21-point lead slip away.

Borislava Hristova scored the first basket of the game to give the Cougars the lead but when she followed up a jumper with a 3-point play midway through the fourth quarter the game was tied at 64. Alexys Swedlund's layup at 4:27 gave the Cougars a 66-65 lead but Utah scored the next six points, Edwards sandwiching a pair of layups around two free throws by Erika Bean.

Swedlund made two free throws to end the 3:23 drought for the Cougars, who were stymied by missing their last eight shots.

Utah (14-1, 3-1 Pac-12) went 3 of 10 in the fourth quarter but still shot 56 percent for the game.

Swedlund and Chanelle Molina had 17 points apiece for WSU (6-9, 1-3) and Hristova had 13.

Utah had a remarkable first half, taking a 46-32 lead. The Utes closed the first quarter with a 10-2 run to lead 22-10 and made 10 straight shots to finish the second quarter 11 for 12. Only Molina, who scored 15 points in the second quarter, including the last 12 for the Cougars, kept it from being worse.

WSU had a 15-4 run in the first half of the third quarter to get within five and trailed by seven at the end.
