Buffalo Grove annexes site of proposed apartments on village's north side
Buffalo Grove recently annexed an 8.98-acre property on the north side of the village and granted a zoning change allowing the construction of apartments on the site.
The land at 15989 and 16051 Deerfield Parkway currently is home to the Concrete Erectors building. Northbrook-based MZ Capital Partners, the contract purchaser, plans to build 120 apartments there, company founder and managing partner Michael Zaransky told the village board.
"We specifically designed a project that's fairly low density compared to some of the other developments in the Buffalo Grove area," he said. "And we limited ourselves to two stories so that we can have a townhome-style look on six buildings."
Zaransky said his company believes there is a substantial need for high-end apartments in Buffalo Grove.
"Particularly in that part of town, where the industrial area and commercial areas are seeking employees, many of which cannot find a place locally to live," he said.
