Mark Rose's musical soiree

GMan Tavern hosts former Spitalfielder Mark Rose's Holiday Party Friday, complete with music trivia (with cash prizes and Metro tickets on the line), followed by free karaoke jams late into the night. Pravda pop-up

Chicago's Pravda Records label hosts a pop-up show at Evanston's SPACE highlighting three area faves. The Josh Caterer Trio brings the rock, Steve Dawson & The Lucid Dreams handle the folk-Americana and The Service packs '80s-'90s alternative. 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at SPACE, 1245 Chicago Ave., Evanston. $20-$30. evanstonspace.com.

Shoe Fest Holiday Jam

The second annual Shoe Fest Holiday Jam is back at Martyrs' next week with a slate of celebrated performers - including Mark Hague of Mr. Blotto, Justin Reckamp of Mungion, Wavy Dave from Cornmeal, Josh Olken of Terrapin Flyer, Charlie Otto, Ernie Hendrickson, Carrie Chandler and vocalists Kiley B. Moore and Sadie Rose Glaspey - for some collaborative jams. Also, fans can win some prizes and get their hands on swag and Shoe Fest 2023 tickets. 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Martyrs', 3855 N.
