Rosemont convention center plans $3 million in upgrades
The Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont will undergo nearly $3 million worth of renovations to its south ballroom this winter.
The upgrades include new lighting, carpeting, drywall, wall coverings and electrical work. The village board recently approved a guaranteed maximum price contract with Degen & Rosato Construction Co. for the work, but officials say they expect the final price to go down.
The south ballroom remained unchanged when other ballrooms in the 890,000-square-foot facility were redone at a cost of more than $5 million in 2014. In 2016, the building got $2.1 million worth of upgrades to bathrooms and concession stands and a fresh coat of paint in exhibit halls.
