10th annual golf outing benefits Schaumburg parks
The weather was perfect Wednesday for the 10th annual Links Technology Cup golf outing at the Schaumburg Golf Club to benefit the Schaumburg Park Foundation.
The nonprofit foundation raises money for Schaumburg Park District programs and other recreational opportunities that go beyond what's funded by taxpayer dollars.
"It's a partnership with Links Technology and the Schaumburg Park Foundation that's something near and dear to our hearts," said Links Technology Vice President Jim Burke. "We've always wanted to support that cause. That's why we are here today."
Schaumburg Township District Library Trustee Anita Forte-Scott said she was excited about the event.
"There's about 120 golfers to enjoy the day, and participating in this event and making a real good donation toward the Schaumburg Park Foundation helps children participate in park district events throughout the year," Forte-Scott said.
"The funds we raise go for disadvantaged individuals in the community, to help them to take advantage of all the great things the Schaumburg Park District has to offer," added Tony Lafrenere, executive director of the Schaumburg Park District and president of the foundation's board of trustees.
The event included contests and prizes, and dinner at Chandler's Chophouse in the golf course's clubhouse.
