District 15 mechanical foreman receives Above and Beyond award

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 mechanical foreman John Peterson has received the school system's Above and Beyond recognition.

Peterson is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of 162 school buses and 32 district utility vehicles. The harsh winter made Peterson's job more difficult than usual, officials said. He put in long hours at work to ensure buses were safe and ready to go for about 10,000 students who rely on them to get to school each day.

At a recent school board meeting, District 15 Superintendent Scott Thompson presented Peterson with the Above and Beyond award and a pin noting his exceptional job performance. Peterson attended District 15 schools and has worked there since 1989.
