Fundraiser planned for 8-year-old paralyzed in Highland Park parade shooting

A fundraiser is planned to benefit Cooper Roberts, the 8-year-old boy paralyzed in the Highland Park parade shooting.

Whiskey River Bar and Grill, 1850 Waukegan Road in Glenview, will host the fundraiser from 1 to 6 p.m. Oct. 16. Admission is $20 for individuals 10 and older, and includes food. Alcohol will be available for purchase, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the Roberts family to help pay for Cooper's medical care and future needs.

The family-friendly event includes music, a magic show, a DJ, face-painters and a tie-dye station. A raffle features prizes such as a television and Yeti cooler. All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Roberts family.

For information about the fundraiser, call Whiskey River at (847) 486-1007.

A GoFundMe online fundraiser for Cooper at gofundme.com/f/kxwjn-the-roberts-family-fundraiser has raised more than $2 million toward a $2.25 million goal.
