Sandra Peek is BCAC's May Artist of the Month
The Barrington Cultural Arts Center is pleased to have artist Sandra Peek as the featured artist at the BCAC Gallery at the Ice House Mall for the month of May.
Peek was born and raised in Wisconsin and was strongly influenced by the beautiful, rural culture of the Midwest. She has always had a love of art, from grade school through high school, but did not have any formal training until moving to Forest Lake.
At that time, Peek discovered the Studio in the Woods and began taking classes with Bonnie Anderson. When the studio closed, she enrolled at the Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich with instruction by Frankie Johnson. Peek continues to attend and enjoy the instruction and support she receives at Mainstreet.
Peek has been painting for more than 30 years in oils, pastels and has ventured into watercolors at the Ela Senior Center, under the direction of Joyce Klug.
Peek assumed leadership of the watercolor group a couple of years ago. However, she still prefers the oil painting experience.
Peek is a member of the Barrington Cultural Art Center, the Long Grove Artists Guild and the Lake County Art League. In addition to the exhibit at the Ice House Mall, Peek is currently displaying work at the Whisk Cafe in Wauconda.
Her paintings are in many private collections throughout the country. She has done many portraits in pastels for family, friends and co-workers.
