Trump, Congress should govern with compassion
With all due respect to those who admire and follow Mr. Trump (and yes, I respect the opinion of others) I am not a fan of Mr. Trump and his tactics. He is undermining all that the United States has accomplished in the last 50 to 60 years.
I am not suggesting all of our past presidents have been greater or better than others, but for the most part, they have been decent, rational human beings. Some did well and arguably, some did not. In my opinion, Mr. Trump is not displaying compassionate, humane qualities.
For many years, the United States has helped other countries oppressed by dictators, communists and terrorists groups like ISIL, etc. Countries have been liberated from their oppressors and have been given back to their people.
So, how have we elected someone that is the epitome of that which goes against our principles, beliefs and hopes for a better world?
We were ecstatic when the Berlin Wall came down. Now, the U.S. is building walls. I agree that we should better control our borders. But please, no more walls. My husband came from war-torn Berlin and escaped -- from behind a wall.
They don't work.
While there are some people that should not be here, let us not punish the innocent. Let us treat human beings with respect. Let us not close all our doors.
I hope that Mr. Trump and our Congress remember that their mothers were/are all women. Legislate and act with the level of respect for women that you would expect for your own mother.
