Barrington District 220 recognized for being among best in music education

A national organization has named Barrington Area Unit District 220 one of the best communities for music education in the United States.

The recognition announced Monday came from the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. District 220 is one of just 19 school systems in Illinois to receive the designation for its commitment to provide music access and education to all students.

To qualify for the designation, District 220 officials answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation and more. The information was verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
