COVID hospitalization curve is getting worse

Mr. Dettmer of Wheaton asks that the Daily Herald focus on hospitalizations to avoid "fear mongering and panic peddling!" He should look at the statewide metrics for hospitalizations.

On Nov. 29, 2,379 patients were hospitalized with COVID in Illinois. The number went up every day since then to reach 4,756 on Dec. 26.

The curve is not flattening. It is increasing at an exponential rate of 2.7% every day.
