Weather service: Small tornado hit SE Indiana on Wednesday

MILLHOUSEN, Ind. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that a small tornado touched down Wednesday near a southeastern Indiana town, causing minor damage but no injuries.

The weather service said an EF-0 tornado with peak winds of 84 mph (135.2 kilometers per hour) touched down briefly Wednesday night about three miles (4.8 kilometers) west of the Decatur County town of Millhousen.

The tornado's path covered about one-tenth of a mile (.2 of a kilometer), damaging a farm outbuilding, toppling a small horse trailer, and causing other minor damage in the rural area about 40 miles (64.4 kilometers) southeast of Indianapolis.

The weather service also said that damage to boat docks on Lake Monroe, located just southeast of Bloomington, was determined to have been caused Wednesday by straight line winds.
