District 128 Special Olympics team wins state title

The Special Olympics floor hockey team from Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 won the state championship Saturday, officials announced.

The squad, called the Storm, defeated a Chicago Park District team 8-3 at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago to take the title.

The members of the Storm are: Alexa Donato, Anthony Berktold, Anna Scholler, Shaw Keranen, Hailey Dunbar, Nathan Ferrara, Joey Lich, Joseph Maller, Chase Miller, Rithanyaa Venkat, Chris Miller and Noah Hewitt.
