Lombard ready test sanitary sewers

Lombard will test its sanitary sewer system the week of July 20. The testing uses nontoxic smoke/vapor to identify underground breaks or leaks.

During heavy rains, ground water may enter the sewers through such leaks and overload the system.

During testing, residents may see smoke rising out of manholes, chimneys or the ground. The project requires dry conditions.

Homes that may be affected will be notified before testing with door hangers.
