Attempted child luring reported in Highland Park
Highland Park Police said they are investigating the report of an unidentified man who approached a 12-year-old girl and asked if she wanted a ride.
The encounter occurred about 5 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Braeside Road and Lakeside Place. Police said the man, who was driving a silver Nissan Murano, approached the girl who was walking and asked if she wanted to go to Sheridan Road with him. She responded "no," and he drove away.
The driver was described as 30 to 50 years old, heavyset, dark hair, with a medium complexion, police said.
Police officers immediately began an investigation, which is ongoing.
