Letters: Sins of misinformation

The letter to the editor on March 25 citing "Sins of omission" is an example of repeating lies often enough to make people believe them.

The writer equates 2020 BLM riots with the Jan. 6 insurrection to overthrow the government. One was initiated by Blacks being killed by police, the other by a treasonous president trying to nullify a legitimate election by lying. Both were riots, and neither should have occurred, but the motivations behind each were very different.

Next was the lie comparing President Trump's efforts to force Ukraine to help him win reelection by creating false charges against his potential rival, with then Vice-President Biden's request, on behalf of then President Obama, to remove its top prosecutor from office for ignoring corruption. The U.S. and other allies pushed for this, and Biden was the spokesperson. This was done out in the open, not on some secret call hidden from the public.

The prosecutor claimed he was ousted because of his investigation into Burisma and Hunter Biden, but provided no evidence that there was a connection. Much like Trump providing no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.

Finally, the writer accuses other networks besides Fox News of spreading false information, implying that fomenting revolution based on lies was no worse than what all the other networks were doing.

There's no question that other networks make false statements, deliberate or otherwise. Most will correct themselves on air when challenged on these statements. Fox News doubles down. What Fox News did was treasonous, and done for ratings and money.

The writer's letter is a textbook case of omission sometimes being misinformation.
