Community Church of Rolling Meadows Corn Fest and Craft Fair August 6

The Community Church of Rolling Meadows will host its 60th annual Corn Fest and Craft Fair from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6. (Craft Fair from 10 a. m.-6 p.m.). Admission to the grounds is free.

The menu features all you can eat sweet corn, grown locally and picked just hours before it is boiled to perfection and smothered in butter. Also, included in the ticket price; a hamburger, brat or hot dog, relishes, grilled onions, watermelon and beverage.

Meal tickets may be purchased at the door: Adults, $13; seniors, $10; children ages 4-10, $6; and children 3 and younger are free. Presale tickets are available online at communitychurchrm.com with $1 discount until Aug. 3. Seating will be under a tent for rain or shine enjoyment. Fresh picked sweet corn will also be bagged for sale by the dozen or half-dozen.

The Craft Fair will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and feature many booths filled with handmade arts and crafts by area artisans, as well as other vendors. Also featured will be Community Church's popular raffle, with items such as Cubs and White Sox tickets, an overnight stay at the Abbey Resort in Fontana, Wisconsin, and a 50/50 cash drawing. Raffle tickets are $2 each.

An expanded kids area includes a bounce house, bungee jump and rescued exotic wildlife animals! And back again this year; the ever popular face painter and balloon artist, as well as Brain Freeze Ice Cream and the Popcorn Jester. Also, the opportunity throughout the day to see police and fire vehicles.

A tradition since 1957, the Corn Fest is a source of community fellowship each August. Come and spend the day. Live music will also be provided. Something for everyone!

Outdoor worship service

On Sunday, Aug. 7, Community Church of Rolling Meadows will host a community worship service outdoors, under the Cornfest tent. This will be a joint service with several Rolling Meadows churches. The service begins at 10 a.m. Dress is casual; all are invited to join.
