2 Rockford security guards indicted in slaying of man
ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Two Rockford security guards have been indicted on first-degree murder in the April shooting death of a 34-year-old man.
The Rockford Register Star (http://bit.ly/29uovSy ) reports that Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato announced the indictments by a county grand jury against 26-year-old Ryan Bruce Mattingly and 28-year-old Alijon Khalil.
The Metro Enforcement security guards were also indicted on charges of aggravated battery, mob action and unlawful restraint.
The indictment alleges they struck Valentia Jovan Fresco in the face, choked him as they tried to handcuff him on April 16 before Mattingly shot him.
They are being held on $1 million each in the county jail. They are scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
An attorney for the private security company says the two have been placed on administrative leave.
