Lake Villa woman dies after Gurnee crash

A Lake Villa woman died as a result of a crash in Gurnee late Thursday afternoon.

Authorities responded to Washington Street and Cemetery Road about 4:50 p.m. after a 71-year-old man driving a GMC east on Washington Street crossed the center lane and collided with a Toyota driven by a 37-year-old woman from Grayslake, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department.

The passenger in the GMC, a 69-year-old woman whose name was not released, died. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
