Fittest Loser captains keep their teams motivated
It's time to give a shout-out to the captains helping to lead each team to victory in this year's Fittest Loser At Work Challenge!
There are dedicated captains that help support their teams through motivation, guidance, organization, and support.
Each team comes from a different occupational background and have different advantages or disadvantages.
Some teams are busy working through tax season, a demanding time of year with long hours and a lot of bad food temptations.
But not everyone is struggling with these challenges.
Zac Mikkelson of CTM CPAs & Business Advisors “Number Crunchers” has lost a whopping 25 pounds.
Team captain Debra O'Malley says, “I am very proud of Zac! While we don't hold weekly meetings (I have been traveling a lot for work), I do send weekly motivation emails.”
Sometimes a little support can go a long way.
Many team captains feel a responsibility to help their team do well.
Barb Merner, team captain of Fitz Chem LLC's “Skinny Dippers” says, “I try to set a good example by participating in activities, eating right and losing weight, as well. I like to think I make a positive impact through my actions and interactions.”
Other captains say they feel like a therapist which can be difficult since many are also active participants trying to lose weight.
“Redstone Renegades” team captain Kim Moore of Redstone Wealth Advisors says, “I'm trying not to be judgmental about my teammates' habits, as I know I have my own set of challenges to overcome.”
She continues, “It's been great sharing these new experiences with them, and it has had a positive effect on our work relationships.”
Another team captain talks about the struggles of being a participant and also a captain.
Brani Rogic, team captain of Common Sense Solutions' “CSS Truffle Shuffle,” says, “It's a lot of work, trying to keep team members motivated as well as yourself.” She continues to say that the experience has been humbling and improved her patience.
Many team captains are using this experience to not only help others, but to help themselves.
Lenna Bohlman team captain of two teams, “Weapons of Less Consumption” and “Leave it Blank,” has a spreadsheet of upcoming events to help the teams organize and plan activities together.
Lenna loves learning about nutrition and shares many tips with her teams.
“I am inspired by everyone's motivation as well. My biggest goal is to help others change their relationship with themselves and to take this beyond the course of the 12-week challenge.”
Teams are working hard and staying motivated and thanks to their captains, they have the support that will lead them all to weight-loss victory!
