Baseball: Larsen pitches, hits Vernon Hills to victory

Brad Larsen picked up a pitching victory with a relief stint and helped his own cause at the plate by going 2-for-2 with 2 RBI as Vernon Hills topped Deerfield 7-5 to pickup a nonconference win.

Andrew Smith got the final two outs to earn a save.

Kyle Hull finished 3-for-4 at the plate and Joe Rangel produced a double for Vernon Hills.

Grayslake North 4, Grayslake Central 3: Vince Gawerecki had 2 hits to lead Grayslake North.

New Trier 8, Libertyville 3: Ben Kimpler had a home run but it was not enough for Libertyville, which was out-hit 11-7 in a nonconference loss.

Trent Jean had a triple for Libertyville while teammates Tim Calamari and Jackson Peterson each had a double.
