Curtain: The December Newspaper Movie of the Month
'Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus'
Part "A Christmas Carol" and part "The Waltons," this is a 1991 made-for-TV movie that provides a charming if mawkish fictional account of the creation of the New York Sun's legendary 1897 editorial, "Is There a Santa Claus?" ("Yes Virginia, there is ..." was not the title of the editorial but rather its most famous line.) Charles Bronson plays editorial writer Francis Pharcellus Church, Ed Asner plays his editor and Richard Thomas plays Virginia O'Hanlan's father. Available in DVD and Blu-ray and on several streaming platforms.
