Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I am running for reelction because I believe that our public library is vital to the lives of our constituents, and I take seriously the fiduciary responsibility that I have been entrusted with as a trustee.If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.As a trustee I continue to serve our constituents in policy formulation, approval of annual budgets and appropriations, participation in ILA and RAILS activities and communications, physical plant maintenance and initiatives.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?I have held a library card for as long as I have lived in the library district. I visit the library frequently every week.Space is an issue at many libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.Our library has space that is currently being utilized for non-public use that can be added to public space as budgeting allows. We have continually reassigned space and usage to meet changing needs based on ongoing implimentation of our strategic plan.What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?Technological developments have had a significant impact on libraries and the needs of patrons. We continue to pursue opportunities to provide the latest and most relevant services that are vital to our patrons. In challenging economics periods, libraries have provided resources and programs that can assist individuals and lead to new solutions.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Continuing to provide the highest quality services, materials, programs and library staff that the Fremont Public Library District is known for while adhering to budget is of vital improtance to me.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Although we recently lost her, I always admired the integrity and respect of journalist Gwen Ifill. I continue to be inspired by Barbara Jordon's life.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Success is measured by one's contribution to the quality of life of others and one's community.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Even greater time with my childrenWhat was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Mathematics contributed to an ablity to develop and manage budgets, develop tax strategies, and prepare taxes. Music gave me the enrichment and discipline of art.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Value the good in others
