Baseball: Libertyville handles Warren in NSC matchup

Libertyville 6, Warren 1: Jackson Peterson homered, singled and drove in 2 runs, and Libertyville's baseball team beat visiting Warren 6-1 in North Suburban Conference action Thursday.

Dan Marks also had 2 hits for Libertyville. Marks, Brant Kym and Riley Gowens doubled. Ryan Coty earned the win, pitching 4⅔ innings, allowing just 1 run and 3 hits. He struck out five and walked four.

Warren's Cal Poremba was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Mundelein 9, Zion-Benton 3: Will Michalski struck out 10 batters in 5 innings, as the host Mustangs won in North Suburban action.

Ryan Magee was 2-for-3 with a double for Mundelein.

Grant 18, Round Lake 1: Aidan Earl had 10 strikeouts in 5 innings, as the Bulldogs won the Northern Lake County game.

Grant (3-5) got doubles from Brian Fisher (1-for-1) and Dave Villan (1-for-1, double, 2 RBI).

Lake Zurich 5, Waukegan 2: Matt Svanson earned the complete-game win in North Suburban action, allowing just 1 earned run and striking out seven.

Tyler Snep was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, stolen base and an RBI for Lake Zurich.
