Hanover Township in-person Open Gym to begin July 6

Hanover Township Youth & Family Services' in-person Summer Open Gym will begin on Monday, July 6, at the Izaak Walton Center & Reserve, 899 Jay St. in Elgin.

Youth will participate in a variety of activities such as crafts, sports, yoga, outdoor games such as kanjam, and more. A small snack and drink will also be provided daily.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, Summer Open Gym at first transitioned into a virtual program. Now that the state has moved into Phase 4 of its Restore Illinois plan, in-person Open Gym will occur on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 1 to 4 p.m. through Aug. 7. Registration is required, with a daily capacity of 40 participants.

Virtual Open Gym will continue to be offered on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. via Zoom until Aug. 4.
