Jacobs, Hampshire notch baseball wins

Jacobs 7, Schaumburg 1: Stevie Krueger went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI and three Jacobs pitches combined on a 3-hitter to lead the Golden Eagles to a nonconference win. Mike Addante (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Daniel Solomon (2 hits, RBI), Cameron Wilson (RBI), Casey Dennison (2B, 2 RBI) and Tim Randl (2 hits, RBI) also contributed to the offense. Brad Demkovich was credited with the pitching win in relief of Evan Libeau. Dennison pitched the final 2 innings and recorded 5 strikeouts.

Hampshire 6, Belvidere North 0: Jacob Manning scattered 3 hits over 5 innings with 5 strikeouts and Hampshire, which had just 3 hits, took advantage of 5 errors and 7 walks by Belvidere North in this nonconference win. Pawel Barnas had 3 RBI for the Whip-Purs.

Harvest Christian 8, Biggsville West Central 2: In its first game at Lenz Field in downstate Jacksonville, Brock Wilken had 3 hits and Joey Pepper drove in 2 runs to lead the Lions' win. Grant Young added 2 hits and Wilken earned the win on the mound, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts in 4 innings.

Harvest Christian 18, Serena 8: Dayne Frederick went 3-for-3 with a double and 4 RBI to lead the Lions to their second win of the day in Jacksonville. Joey Pepper added 2 hits and 4 RBI for Harvest while Grant Young had a triple. Zach Pawelek was the winning pitcher.

Elk Grove 3, Geneva 0: Mitchell Merges had a double for Geneva in its nonconference loss. He was also the losing pitcher in relief.

East Aurora 15, Westminster Christian 3: Nathan Martinez had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Warriors (0-3) in nonconference play.
