Barrington's White House shifts cultural programming online

Known for live music and other programming, Barrington's White House has shifted to free virtual entertainment as the state's stay-at-home order continues.

The online series "Virtual Arts and Culture" started this month and has programming scheduled into mid-June.

Village officials said that while residents and others are unable to join together in a love for art and culture, the White House still wants to be a source of joy.

Using the Zoom video conference platform, the White House has been featuring a visual artist or performer. White House favorite Steve Puttrich kicked off the series May 7 live from his home studio to give a mini demonstration of his oil painting process, from initial sketch to under painting and final touches.

This is a work by artist Judy Skulborstad. She is set for the Barrington's White House "Virtual Arts and Culture" series from 7 to 8 p.m. May 21. As part of the program, she's expected to provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse at her workspace, motivation, inspiration and process. Courtesy of Barrington's White House
