Boys soccer: Elgin tops Waubonsie Valley

Elgin improved to 4-4-3 in a scoring-heavy matchup against Waubonsie Valley, winning 5-1.

Jean Padilla-Gomez lead the way for the Maroons with four goals, all coming in the second half.

Elgin goalkeeper Jefferson Paulino allowed just one goal against for Waubonsie Valley.

Cary-Grove 2, Dundee-Crown 0: Cary-Grove handed the Dundee-Crown Chargers their first conference loss.

Cary-Grove's Mateo Núñez scored on a penalty kick while Jesus Padilla knocked in another assisted by Dario Gamboa.

CL South 1, Huntley 0: Crystal Lake South won a double-overtime thriller against Huntley, shutting them out in the process.

South's Alex Canfield scored the lone goal of the game in double overtime, assisted by Danny Ciezadlo.

South Elgin 3, Guilford 1: The South Elgin Storm picked up a nonconference win against Rockford Guilford.

The Storm got unassisted goals from Ethan Cup and Andres Rivera, and one goal from Danny Quintana assisted by Ryan Doherty.
