Girls soccer: Grayslake North blanks North Chicago

Jordyn Gerdes and Daniella Adams each scored twice, and Grayslake North's girls soccer team shut out North Chicago 7-0 in Northern Lake County Conference action Wednesday.

The Knights (3-3-1, 2-0) also got goals from McKenna Brooks, Nicole Lacke and Willow Silverman. Lauren Hansen added a pair of assists. Gerdes, Emily Hansen, Gia Marrero and Ariana Gotshall also had assists. Emily Dunne earned the shutout.

Stevenson 2, Lane Tech 0: As part of the Lou Malnati's Deep Dish Classic, the Patriots got a pair of first-half goals from Kalyssa VanZanten.

Alyssa Bende assisted on both goals. Jenny Staten made 7 saves in notching her fifth shutout, as Stevenson improved to 6-1-2.

"The defense stood strong with good presence vs. a fast Lane Tech attack," Patriots coach PepeJon Chavez said. "A great performance by Alyssa Bende in the midfield and a solid group effort with great goals from Kiki (VanZanten) gave us the edge on a cold night.:
