Round Lake man gets 3 years for possessing child porn

A Round Lake man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and was sentenced to three years in prison, officials said. The plea by Roger Latimer, 52, came midway through his trial Thursday, said Cynthia Vargas, spokeswoman for the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. He also is required to register as a sex offender for life, Vargas said. Had Latimer been convicted at trial, he could have been sentenced up to 7 years in prison. Latimer received credit for 494 days he spent in custody, and will spend two years on parole upon his release.
