Carol Stream woman charged with felony theft in Bartlett

A 37-year-old Carol Stream woman faces three felony charges stemming from the theft of merchandise Monday from the Jewel-Osco at 125 E. Stearns Road in Bartlett.

Erin D. Kennedy is charged with a Class 2 felony burglary, Class 3 felony retail theft and Class 4 felony retail theft, Bartlett police said Tuesday.

Bartlett officers were called to the Jewel-Osco about 6 p.m. Monday for a report of a retail theft, authorities said. The charges allege that an employee witnessed Kennedy place approximately $1,000 worth of over-the-counter medication and DVDs inside a large purse and leave the store without paying.

Kennedy was taken to the DuPage County jail in Wheaton Tuesday morning to await a bail bond hearing.
