Suburban pageant winners to vie for state titles

Several local pageant winners will compete in the upcoming Miss Illinois competition in Marion. The weeklong competition will be held at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.

Miss Northern Suburbs Kaitlyn Dixon will compete for the title of Miss Illinois beginning Wednesday, June 15.

Grace Keller, Miss Northern Suburbs' Outstanding Teen; Sheridan Hurtig, Miss Lake County's Outstanding Teen; and Annika Churchill, Miss Northern Illinois' Outstanding Teen, will all compete for the title of Miss Illinois' Outstanding Teen beginning Tuesday, June 14.

Miss Illinois contestants will compete in swimsuit, evening gown, interview and talent competitions. For the talent portion, Dixon will sing "Orange Colored Sky."

Miss Illinois' Outstanding Teen contestants will compete in active wear, evening gown, interview and talent competitions. Keller will perform a contemporary dance to "Dream;" Hurtig will sing "On My Way;" and Churchill will sing "Poor Wand'ring One."

The winner of Miss Illinois will go on to compete for the title of Miss America later this year. The winner of Miss Illinois' Outstanding Teen will go on to compete for the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen.

Awards for both titles will be given for first, second, and third runner-up, including thousands of dollars in scholarship awards.
