Missouri man facing gun, drug charges after traffic stop in Aurora
A 24-year-old Missouri man is facing felony drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop in Aurora, police said.
Marquan D. Neal, of Springfield, was stopped around 11:50 p.m. July 18 for failing to use a turn signal before entering a driveway in the 1100 block of E. Galena Blvd., police said.
When the officer walked up to the vehicle, the officer smelled cannabis coming from the vehicle's interior, police said. The officer to search the car, where he found a 9 mm handgun stashed between the driver's seat and center console.
An additional search revealed about 1.3 pounds of cannabis inside a backpack and $1,900 cash in one of his pockets, police said.
Neal was charged with armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, not having a FOID card, manufacture or delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis, police said. He was also cited for not using his turn signal.
His bond condition and next court date was not immediately available.
