District 54 joins effort to break reading record

On Thursday, Oct. 25, Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 will again join Jumpstart's Read for the Record, a national campaign to break the world record for largest shared reading experience, while also working to break the cycle of illiteracy.

District 54 has focused on ensuring students are provided a strong educational foundation from their first experiences in school, officials said.

This year, all early childhood and kindergarten classes in District 54 will participate by having their teachers or other guests read the children's book "Maybe Something Beautiful" by authors F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell.

District 54 thanks the school board members, mayors and Schaumburg Township District Library representatives who are visiting the schools to read the book to students.
