Body of missing Chicago man found in lake in Champaign
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - The body of a Chicago man who was reported missing has been found in a lake in Champaign, authorities said.
A person out for a walk Wednesday morning spotted the body in Kaufman Lake about 15 feet from shore, police spokesman Tom Yelich said.
The body was identified as Jeremy S. Wallace, 23, Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said. Wallace's family had filed a missing-person report with Champaign police on April 10, Northrup said.
Authorities said Wallace arrived in Champaign on April 9 to visit relatives and left their home about 10:30 p.m. that night. He was later seen walking after leaving a business but not heard from again, The News-Gazette reported.
