Batavia Library asking public: "What do you want?"
The Batavia Public Library wants to hear from residents what they want out of it, and is having four "Speak Up!" sessions the next few months.
The first session, "Your Library Today," is Feb. 1, library director George Scheetz said. The others are March 1, April 12 and May 18. All are from 7 to 9 p.m. in the cafeteria at Batavia High School, 1200 W. Wilson St.
Each will feature an overview of the night's topic, a presentation, small-group discussions, and a wrap-up review.
The facilitators conducting the meetings will use the suggestions to make recommendations to the library board.
The second session will focus on the future of the libraries, Scheetz told the library board last week. The topics for the third and fourth sessions have not been set.
Batavia has had a public library since 1882 (before that, it was a subscription library.)
The library hosts a "Sweet Sixteen" celebration of the 16th anniversary of its current building, at 10 S. Batavia Ave., from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
