Aurora Fire Museum hosts 'On the Table' talks

For the past two years, the Aurora Regional Fire Museum has played host to discussions on a variety of issues related to the role institutions, businesses and restaurants play in creating a more unified community.

Those discussions have been part of a program called On the Table, which is sponsored by the Chicago Community Trust. They involve sitting down over a meal or cup of coffee and discussing our communities with those who are seeking to make them stronger.

"It's a conversation about what we can do individually and collectively to answer the question 'What will we do to create a stronger community?'" museum Director Brian Failing said.

This year, the fire museum, 53 N. Broadway, will again host the event from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8.

The free program is sponsored by Aurora Downtown's Business, Attraction and Retention Committee and there is no agenda outside of an open discussion.

"It is a very exciting time to be in Aurora - many new businesses are opening, museums and cultural institutions are thriving, and the city is embracing a new downtown master plan," Failing said.
