Endorsements: Herron, Koch, Montalto for Sugar Grove village board

Voters in Sugar Grove will choose from among five candidates for three seats on the village board in the April 4 election. The field features three incumbents - Sean Herron, Ted Koch and Rick Montalto - and challengers Alison Squires and Karen McCannon.

The village board has been operating effectively with the three incumbents and we see no compelling reason for change.

Montalto is retired from law enforcement. He has been a trustee for eight years and a resident of Sugar Grove for 22. He supports a balanced budget and actively encourages new businesses to come to Sugar Grove. Montalto is endorsed

Sean Herron, a teacher, has been on the board for four years. He has demonstrated a long-running commitment to the community, works well with the board and is working to create an active downtown. Herron is endorsed

Koch has been on the board since July of 2015. He brings a business and financial background and wants to work to attract more small businesses to town. Koch is endorsed.
