Politicians are ignoring the obvious - again

The new governor has now released his long-expected plan to help solve the financial crisis that continues to hover over the taxpayers of Illinois. Unfortunately, it appears to be more of the same. Just feed the hungry beast more food, and ignore the need to change its diet.

I speak specifically of the so-called elephant in the room, that no one in Springfield, at least the Dems, appear to want to face. This is the need to trim the revenue spending before any new plans of garnering additional funding is even considered. The main culprit of course is the public pension plans that continue to add to our inability to pay bills, not to mention the growing deficit this state must continue to live with.

No politician worth his salary, should even begin to consider changes in how this state accumulates revenue, until he or she attacks the out-of-control spending, led by the current public pension plans, that continues to eat away the taxpayers' hard-earned dollars. Raising taxes again and again only drives more of those that have the ability to pay the price to finally say "enough is enough, I'm out of here." The result then is that potential revenue sources become that much less.

Even a student in high school economics can grasp this point, as often told to by their parents, as I was numerous times, that you can't continue to spend what you don't have. Money doesn't grow on trees, unless the politicians in this state are also master horticulturists.
