Letter: Show as much angst for the unborn
The Daily Herald editorial "The cost of freedom" published on May 26 focused on the pain and anguish of losing loved ones by gun violence such as just occurred in Uvalde, Texas. You concluded by promoting a variety of plans and programs to control guns in the United States. Well said. However, you avoided mentioning that thousands, if not millions, of infants have also been violently put to death by abortions. Where is the angst for them?
Maybe, just maybe, Second Amendment and Gun lovers would be willing to negotiate real gun control regulations, if women and abortion advocates were willing to negotiate real abortion regulations. Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals might then come together and negotiate compromises on both real issues that kill and maim so many. Yes, both sides would need to yield their freedoms to a degree, so that many would be saved from horrible, ugly and tragic deaths.
