Lake Minear fishing derby Saturday in Libertyville

The annual catch-and-release fishing derby at Lake Minear Beach, 600 W. Oak Spring Road, Libertyville, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The 72-acre lake and beach, featured on 2017 village vehicle stickers, is operated by the nonprofit Libertyville Boat Club, Inc., which is looking for new members. There will be prizes and trophies for winners, and coffee and doughnuts for all.

Instruction for kids will be offered by the Libertyville High School Fishing Club. The fee is $5 per person or $20 per family. Register at LakeMinearBeach.com or pay at the gate.
