Endorsements: Majeski, Perez, Pisano for Bensenville village board
Two years ago, members of the Bensenville United Party captured three seats on the village board, campaigning on their belief that the board members at the time were not being responsive to residents. They still constitute a minority on the board, and are back this election with three candidates running on a similar platform - non-responsiveness and spending that could be better managed - against the current regime. They face a slate of three that includes only one incumbent. So regardless of the outcome of the April 4 election, Bensenville is looking at some new faces on the board in the contest for three, 4-year terms.
Bensenville United candidates include Ann Franz, an inside sales specialist; McLane Lomax, an insurance representative; and Armando Perez, an insurance agency owner and a member of the Bensenville Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Members of the Working 4 Bensenville slate are: David Majeski, a retired IT specialist and census surveyor, and a current village trustee; Joseph Pisano, a retired postmaster; and Sergiusz "Sergio" Zgrzebski a reporter and anchor for WPVN Polvision TV at Telewizja Polvision.
Bensenville United candidates are supported by village president candidate Frank DiSimone; the Working 4 Bensenville slate is headed by DiSimone's opponent, Henry Wesseler.
Much as in the mayor's contest, the village board candidates disagree - though much less adamantly - on village spending and responsiveness, so the choice boils down to the style, passion and background of the individual candidates.
We endorse Majeski and Pisano, from the Working for Bensenville ticket, and Perez, from the Bensenville United slate. We like the enthusiasm Majeski and Pisano show in vowing to use their available retirement hours working for the village. In particular, Majeski, appointed to the board less than a year ago, has served on an array of community groups, including the Bensenville Community Development Commission. We think Perez, with his business background, will provide important perspective to the board as it continues to encourage more development to come to town.
