The Latest: FBI raids Vigo Co. School offices in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - The Latest on the FBI raid Wednesday at the Vigo County School Corp. (all times local):

5:25 p.m.

The Vigo County School Corp. says it's cooperating with authorities following an FBI raid at three of its locations in Terre Haute.

The school corporation released a statement Wednesday afternoon saying it "is fully cooperating with law enforcement and understands that there has been no formal identification by law enforcement of any VCSC employee as a target in this matter."

School attorney Chuck Rubright (ROOB'-ryt) says the corporation received search warrants for three locations: its administration building, facilities support and an information technology center. He says the school corporation plans to cooperate fully with federal prosecutors.

WTHI-TV reports FBI personnel removed at least 40 boxes and computer towers from a building at a school corporation's transportation center.

FBI agents have raided the offices of the Vigo County School Corp. in Terre Haute.

At least a dozen FBI agents entered the offices about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday and cordoned off the parking lots outside the offices.

FBI spokeswoman Cathy Burton says the agency is "conducting investigative activity in the Terre Haute area" but says she can't disclose any additional information.

The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports school Superintendent Danny Tanoos left the offices about 10:45 a.m. and drove away without commenting to reporters. School corporation attorney Joe Etling says he cannot comment on the matter.

School corporation employee Penny O'Brien says workers were told they would have to vacate the offices for at least four hours. Workers all got into their cars and left the parking lot.
