Letter: Remember others who endure protests

You recently published a letter from a Mr. Roberts, who complained that the attorney general wasn't enforcing the law when it comes to protests against the Supreme Court at justices' homes. He was upset with what Chuck Schumer said about their rulings. And most surprising of all that some law enforcing agency had been investigating some parents at school board hearings.

Let's look at these three issues:

• What Chuck Schumer said was wrong. But where was this writer condemnation with all of the craziness being said from the right? Silent.

• Parents being investigated. All over this country as people from the radical right were attacking school boards for doing their jobs to protect their students. These school board members, mostly parents themselves, had their lives and families threatened. They had protests at their homes and jobs. Where were those like this writer about this? Silent.

• Where were they when election officials all over the country were being threatened along with their families, all over baseless conspiracy theories? Silent.

Don't these people deserve the right to be protected just as much as the Supreme Court members?

Now the judges, if that's the law, then so be it; don't allow the protest. But remember the school board members are elected. People had recourse to vote them out. There is no recourse with the Supreme Court justices, who serve for life.

If one wants to be on the side of law and order, then do so. Do not pick and choose for political expediency.
