Dist. 207 school board names new president

Carla Owen has been appointed president of the Maine Township High School District 207 board for the 2016-2017 school year.

The Park Ridge attorney was chosen unanimously by her colleagues to lead the board at a reorganization meeting Monday. Owen, who was appointed to the board in December 2012 and elected in April 2013, was previously the board's vice president.

She replaces Margaret McGrath, who was president for the last three years.

Paula Besler, who joined the board in May 2014, was elected the board's vice president. She is the director of community and health relations for Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
